Shawnee County Health Department director says it’s ‘business as usual’ for WIC during federal shutdown
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Teresa Fisher, Director of the Shawnee County Health Department, says it is just “business as usual” in terms of funding for its WIC program.
13 NEWS spoke with Fisher about the status of funds for its Women, Infants, and Children program while the federal government shutdown continues.
Fisher says WIC is currently funded for the rest of October. They are still organizing funds to cover the program in November, but she says it is still business as usual. She could not elaborate further.
As for the Department for Children and Families, agency officials have said in its latest update that it will continue to monitor developments regarding the shutdown that has the potential to impact SNAP benefits, the WIC program, and other programs.
