Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue volunteer up for Scotland’s Health Awards
Neil Jackson, psychiatric liaison nurse, at NHS Borders, is up for the Care for Mental Health Award.
He is one of three Borderers alongside Alex Mundell and Vikki Gray to be nominated in various categories.

“It came as a great surprise when my colleagues informed me that not only had they nominated me but I was actually a finalist for Scotland’s Health Awards,” Neil said.
“It was quite humbling to feel they had gone to the effort to make the nomination, as I truly do not feel that I do anything different from the people I work alongside in the psychiatric liaison service.
“I feel very fortunate to work alongside my colleagues with whom I share a person-centred approach to care and who all put in constant dedication, compassion and care for those they seek to support.
“All I have to do is achieve the same level as my colleagues.”

Posting on Facebook, the mountain rescue team congratulated Neil on the nomination.
A spokesperson said: “Some exciting news; team member Neil is a finalist in this year’s Scotland’s Health Awards.
“His nomination is in the Care for Mental Health Award category. Alongside volunteering as a long standing team member, and current deputy team leader, Neil is a superb psychiatric liaison nurse.
“Congratulations Neil, and best of luck from TVMRT!”
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Edinburgh next month.
